About the band
The music of Papirkrona (the duo formerly known as Paper Crown) can be described as timeless, guitar-driven vintage pop, blending elements of folk, americana, soul and rock. The duo combines strong melodies and personal lyrics with an organic sound and distinctive vocal and guitar work. Since forming in 2020, Paper Crown have released three albums and toured extensively.
Guitarist, songwriter and producer Ørnulv Snortheim has performed and written music with some of Norway’s leading artists and runs Dakkota Studio in Hamar. Vocalist, songwriter and lyricist Johanne Kippersund has in recent years established herself as one of the country’s most distinctive and exciting voices, notably as a member of the progressive pop ensemble MEER.
Paper Crown is dead,
long live Papirkrona!
Guitarist Ørnulv Snortheim and vocalist Johanne Kippersund have been making music together as Paper Crown for the past six years. Along the way, they’ve released three albums and played more than 100 venues across Norway and Europe.
Now, it’s time for a change. Johanne explains:
“This summer, we got a rather stern letter from an American duo with a name very similar to ours. They made our lives a little miserable for a few months and even managed to get Spotify to take down all our music. We’d already been talking about making an album in Norwegian, so we figured: why not take the opportunity to start fresh? Paper Crown is becoming Papirkrona!”
The duo are already busy writing their fourth album, this time with Norwegian lyrics and a more organic sound. But before they hit the studio, they’re hitting the road — heading out on a three-week tour of Germany and Austria.
